Behind The Year
During the course of 2018 Blankt Papir Press published the 12 small books that form Året, København 2018 / The Year, Copenhagen 2018. Året / The Year is a monthly, real-time documentation of Copenhagen during 2018 made collaborative by 80 Copenhagen-based photographers. The 12 small books – one for every month of the year – form a collective portrait of the city embracing diverse points of view and practices. In this installation for Copenhagen Photo Festival 80 books form a floating, colourful book installation. There is one book for every participating artist, who contributed with their work to the series.
Behind every book visitors would find a quote from a participating artist telling them about their process, thoughts or experiences of being part of this experimental, photographic collaboration. Visitors were free to take down the books and have a look through - an index was also made available to flip through to get a sense of which places of Copenhagen the photographers had been drawn to.
The installation was supported by Ophavsretsfonden and was presented at the festival center on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Copenhagen Photo Festival. 10 years of celebrating photography in Copenhagen.
